ABOUT
Raul Turrieta is a dedicated public servant and community leader with deep roots in Southwestern New Mexico. Raised in Silver City in a family that prioritized helping others, he has spent his life giving back to his community. Raul and his wife, Billie Turrieta, have been married for almost 20 years.
A veteran of the United States Navy, Raul served on the submarine tenders USS Howard W. Gilmore and USS Dixon. Following his military service, he began a long career in public service at the Grant County Assessor’s office. He was elected Grant County Assessor in 1999 and served four terms in the role. Currently, he serves as the Chief Deputy in the Assessor’s Office, where he continues to assist residents with property tax matters.
Beyond his professional work, Raul is a well-known voice in the community as the host of the Local Flavor radio show on KURU for over a decade and the revived Serenata Mexicana show. He is also a frequent host of local nonprofit fundraisers and a dedicated youth sports coach.
Now running for the state legislature, Raul remains committed to lifting up his community and improving the lives of the people of Southwestern New Mexico.
